It has been a popular playground for skiers and snowboarders since 1947.
In recent years there has been multi-million dollar developments going taking Coronet Peak to new levels.
With millions of dollars being invested into new facilities, access, and the most advanced snowmaking system in the Southern Hemisphere if not the world.
What we now have is a ski resort of world class standing.
The view from Coronet Peak, looking across to The Remarkables and over Lake Wakatipu gives you a unique sense of the very special nature of Coronet Peak.
The skiing and riding is great for all levels, from beginners through to advanced off piste riders. Coronet Peak is famous for its undulating terrain that creates a natural alpine playground to be enjoyed by all.
Coronet Peak has been over the years consistently developing and updating its chairlift system, so that now all chairlifts are high speed express chairs. This means that in a day of skiing and riding at Coronet you can cover a lot of ground and log up a lot of vertical meters.
If fact the new lift ticket system allows you to come home after a great day on the mountain and you can go online and check out have many vertical meters you have done that day, that week and for the whole season.
The Peak, as it is known, is 1649m at the top and 1168m altitude at the base. Just 20 minutes from Queenstown, the access is easy and the skiing is great.
During the course of the winter there is Night Skiing every Friday and Saturday night, and some Wednesday evenings as well. There is also a First Tracks option which means you get to ride the lifts from as soon at the sun comes up.
The advantages of Coronet are such that every year there is a selection of the best World Cup Ski Teams and Pro Snowboard Teams who come to Queenstown so that they can train and/or photo shoot at Coronet Peak.
When you are on your SITCo course your lift pass and transport pass is valid for both Coronet Peak and The Remarkables, so you will get the best of two excellent mountains.
"SITCo is pround to be endorsed and affiliated with the NZSski Snowsports Performance Centre."
The great thing about the New Zealand winter is that it runs June - October.
It is a perfect "off-season" training ground.
With SITCo you will be skiing and riding at both Coronet Peak and The Remarkables, two of the best ski areas in the Southern Hemisphere.
You will have a lift pass and access to both of these mountains the whole time that you are in Queenstown.
Queenstown never fails to be an experience of a lifetime.
