Utah - SITCo. Ski and Snowboard Training

With an average annual snowfall of 500 inches Utah is the home to the greatest snow on earth and there are 12 world class alpine resorts providing access to the lightest and deepest powder around.

From the steeps of little Cottonwood Canyon, the home of Snowbird, to the groomers of Park City utah has it all.

Utah is a year round outdoor paradise with beautiful national parks , great mountain biking and golf and of course the amazing skiing.

The ski resorts of Utah hosted the successful 2002 Winter Olympics.

Salt Lake City is the capital of Utah, it boasts an international airport within an hours drive of most of the ski resorts.

Utah is named after the Ute tribe who were some of the earliest settlers to the area. The first non-Indians to the area where a group of Mormans lead by Brgham Young in search of a place where they could practice their religion safe from hostile mobs and persecution, they arrived in 1847 and founded Salt Lake City. Named after the salt lake to the west of the city.

It is the salt lake which is partly responsible for the fantastic snow in Utah. It is a phenomenon that is known as lake effect snow, which is produced by cold winds moving across large expanses of warmer lake water. The water vapour picked up by the cold winds form snow clouds and result in heavier snowfalls than otherwise mght occur
